The self-made PARADOX of "witnessing" without Television or Radio
by Terry inwhat if i asserted the following as true?
the watchtower bible and tract society has no interest in an effective evangelical program of conversion.. .
would that sound silly?

To me it makes sense that a big part of Rutherfords power trip was to gain wealth and power by owning and controling real estate. Ray Kroc of McDonald's fame found out early when he hired Harry Sonneborn that the real money to be made in Mc Donald's was by leasing and then subleasing real estate to the franchisees not selling burgers.
I remember in the years just before 1975 it was seen as a lack of faith if you were saving money to purchase a home. I knew JWs who sold their homes in order to be able pioneering. Many of them never recovered financially. Little did I know that at the same time the Watchtower was on a buying spree purchasing real estate.
Rutherford never minded throwing his witnesses under the bus as long as it got attention and he wasn't one of the ones being run over. The same holds true with the Governing Body.
Good info.

Is very egotistical to believe that the most thing to happen in all human history will happen in your lifetime. Many people over thousands of years have believed this and they were all wrong. Why are you so sure you are any different than them?

There is a misconception that Jehovah's Witnessses don't go war because they are pacifist. They don't to war because the the Watchtower tells them not to join the military. They just do whatever the Watchtower tells them to. They have no problem with all the wars and killing done in the Bible in the name of God because the Watchtower tells them it was ok. Do Jehovah's Witnesses even understand this?

Bethel Speaker- get rid of Facebook!
by Kensho inspecial assembly day (sad) bethel speaker ( a very good speaker i might add) in his talk " follow your spirit-directed conscience gave example of and elder and his family.
he noticed his wife and daughter spending a lot of time morning noon and night on facebook, it almost seemed like that is all they did, so as a spiritual head decided to see what they were constantly looking at, "let me see what you are spending so much time looking at on facebook said the elder".
the wife explained this is how we keep in contact with the "friends", elder started to look at her page and she was correct, there he found friends in the cong.

The nosey elder was right about one thing witnesses don't talk much Jehovah crap on facebook if they have non JW friends on it. I guess being JWs at this assembly especial it didn't bother them that this guy was nosing around his family members fb accounts. Did he ask at least ask their permission before doing his snooping? He should be told to join facebook and friend the people whose conversations he is interested in instead of eavesdropping on them. That just good manners.
I don't think it is easy to be witness on facebook. They have to worry about what goofy jw things they, or their witness friends say that would expose how really weird their beliefs are. They also have to worry about what they, or their non jw friends say that would cause their jw friends to report them to the elder.

JW's like when tragic events the Boston bombing happen.

(mind you i haven't been to meetings in months) he says the following:.
elder: did you hear about what happend in bos?

I think it is their JW egos that makes them get excited when tragedies happen. They have wasted their entire lives in an endtimes cult preaching the end is near and that Jehovah is going to kick everyones butt to the curb who isn't a JW. And guess what after all those years nothing has happened. Anything that can be interpreted as a sign than what they have been preaching is coming true is consider a good thing by them. It is really a sad way to live.

I heard Jehovah's Witnesses were the first ones on the scene in Boston providing assistance.
by Theocratic Sedition inyou know those articles from the wt are coming, along with emails from jw friends and family.
all the shameless self-attaboys, and fictitious observations by non-jws remarking on how jws provided the most and best assistance to the victims..

Yes I'm sure they were right there offering copies of the Watchtower and Awake magazines to the injured. Just what you need when you have been severly injured by a bomb.
The Watchtower has had long held policy of denying their members a chance to get an education beyond high school so the chances of any of the doctors, nurses, paramedics on the scene being JWs is pretty much zip.
A lot of the people injured needed blood to save there lives. Would you really want a JW involved saving your life under these conditions? If you need blood it would be: "Oh well there goes another one. Can't piss Jehovah off".

OMG ....we overslept lol
by judi8751 indid anyone else do this on sunday mornings: when i was slowly waking up i realised that i didnt want to be at the meetings anymore, my hubby would be sleeping and i realised it was time to get up & get ready, so even though i was bursting for the loo i would hold it so as not to wake him up .
sometimes i was in pain holding it in , but waited till it was too late to get there on time lol.
then he would suggest going to the afternoon meeting intead and i would say i didnt like that congregation...you go hahahahaha, funny thing is he never liked going to the meetings by himself!!!

Near the end of my sentence in JWland I did that and a hundred other things to get out of going to meetings. I became a master of excuses.
